I've noticed something about the primaries, especially with the coverage of Michigan....is this the ultimate earmark tour or what? Seems like the candidates have to go to each state and pander to their needs to get their vote. What one state might need may be 180 degrees opposite of another, so they tell voters in each state something different. Is just me, or do they have to make promises to get elected or is there a vision for all of America?
McCain says he is now not for Amnesty when he pushed for an Amnesty bill in the Senate. Romney had to be pro-choice to win in Massachusetts (knowing he had to be a Governor to be President, i.e. didn't work for Steve Forbes just being a smart business man) then "sees the light" and his conversion is warmly received now as a pro-life candidate? Mike Huckabee says close the borders but then doesn't want to make the kids pay for the sins of their parents while believing its OK to have anchor babies.
Over simplification, yes. But just seems to me that the parade of states is a "we need this, promise it, and get our votes" type of event....and earmarks are the same thing, I'll get this pork if you elect me to congress.
