The Dallas Morning News, in its infinite wisdom, has managed to pull a stunt that not even Time Magazine would have considered:
Texan of the Year is the Illegal Immigrant. Yes, that's right... Illegal Immigrant? Now, of course the DMN controls whom they pick, but did they not even look at the name of the award? TEXAN OF THE YEAR? Of course, an illegal alien (sorry I am not going to degrade all the immigrants that came to America that came to our country through legal means) is not a Texan. For that matter, they are not even an American either.
The lead starts out, "He is at the heart of a great culture war in Texas – and the nation, credited with bringing us prosperity and blamed for abusing our resources." Hmmm, no women cross our border, right? And who might I ask is the one crediting them with bringing us prosperity? Hmmm, Sam Walton wasn't an illegal alien. Jack Walsh wasn't an illegal alien. Henry Ford? Bill Gates? I dare say that not one person polled in America would list one name of an illegal alien that has brought us prosperity.
According to the Dallas Morning News, "To their champions, illegal immigrants are decent, hardworking people who, like generations of European immigrants before them." Millions of Europeans came to this country honestly and to give illegal aliens any kind of linkage is shameful.
The DMN goes on to add " especially here in Texas, his strong back and willing heart help form the cornerstone of our daily lives." Hmmm, so they're just good guys who want a better life and simply aren't patient? No drug dealers wanting to spread the Cheese Epidemic we currently see in our high schools? Not a chance, they simply have a "willing heart" and are the "cornerstone of our daily lives."
Of course, taxpayers are footing the bill. It took 26 paragraphs before the Morning News reported that 70% of the women who gave birth at Parkland Hospital are illegal immigrants costing taxpayers over $70.7 million to deliver the babes of these illegals. Maybe they are the cornerstone of our daily lives, taking our tax money.
Another jab at the law abiding citizens of the United States was thrown at us by the DMN, "Yet to those who want them sent home, illegal immigrants are essentially lawbreakers who violate the nation's borders." Essentially? How many news articles do we see in the Dallas Morning News that add the "essentially" qualifier when reporting on someone charged with murder? Will we see that "essentially" added to articles this week when reporting about someone being killed by a drunk driver - saying he was "essentially" charged with DUI and vehicular manslaughter? My guess is you won't.
There were many choices the DMN could have chosen for Texan of the Year, heck they could have even pick a Texan. Instead, they made a decision instead to go with someone who breaks our laws, utilizes our resources, and calls us racists when all we want is to have our laws followed.
Perhaps this is why they, and many other liberal newspapers across the country, are seeing their circulation drop like a rock.
